Divali 2018 Message

A DIVALI MESSAGE FROM THE POLITICAL LEADER OF THE ORGANIZATION OF INDEPENDENT CANDIDATES, AHAMAD J. KHAN.

Divali is a time for celebration, but it is also a time for reflection – a time when we must remember that there are always others less fortunate than ourselves. This holiday reminds us all that we should commit ourselves to helping those in need. For many, this is also a time to gather with family and to pray. And to all those who will celebrate this joyous occasion, I wish you, your families and loved ones Happy Divali.

As Vaclav Havel said, hope is not the conviction that things will turn out well, but the conviction that what you are doing is meaningful, regardless of how it will turn out in the end.”

It is said that wherever you find beauty, good fortune and wealth, you will also find the Goddess Lakshmi, for it is in those places that she dwells. However, not all environments begin that way, which is why the Hindu tradition is rich with very specific ways to engage the Goddess of Fortune and win her favor. She brings good tidings, good energy.

May this energy radiate among our blessed Trinidad and Tobago and help us unite as one people. May the light of Divali enlighten our future. “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us”.

I bring a message of hope. A hope that a stable, progressive and prosperous society is possible. A hope that together – with the support of those among us and the many more who will join us on this special day that we shall overcome any barrier standing in the way.

I hope the festival of lights enlightens your home and heart with peace and serenity. May the beauty and festivity fill your home with happiness and joy and may the coming year give you everything you’ve wished for!

Divali also known as the festival of lights, is not only symbolic but should also be taken as bringing light not only into our lives but into the lives of those around us. The recent floods and, natural disasters that followed have shown us that as a people we can work as one to help others and cherish the life that is so fragile. The Organization of Independent Candidates joins with the Hindu community in celebrating this joyous occasion.

Happy Diwali!
